Best Management Practice for Landscape Property Management Associations
The focus and goals of the course are to provide information and guidance on turfgrass and landscape management practices to conserve and protect Florida's water resources. The participant will learn to:
1) Identify the impacts of storm water run-off on water bodies.
2) Apply Best Manage Practices including Pesticide, Landscape, Fertilizer and Irrigation Management to increase property beauty and value.
3) Develop a landscape management plan utilizing the Best Manage Practices for the protection of storm water resources.
Materials used in the development of the program come from a variety of agencies, including University of Florida/IFAS/Extension and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

Landscape Irrigation Workshop:
New Technologies and Certification Programs
2008

This workshop, coming to Volusia County on August 28th and St. Johns County on September 29th, will focus on best management practices for optimizing residential irrigation efficiency and scheduling in Florida. As a basis, the program will cover the guidelines set forth in the Florida Water StarSM Residential Criteria. More specific information will include results from the University of Florida's soil moisture sensor/smart controller testing and other advanced technologies.

LID Workshop

"Low Impact Development (LID) Practices for Florida: Stormwater" includes an overview of Florida's fast growing urbanization, its impact on water quality and quantity, and the laws regulating these issues. Low impact development stormwater practices are covered in detail including: conveyance and treatment (swales, curb cuts, bioretention, etc.), volume controls (permeable pavements, exfiltration, green roofs, etc.), resource efficient irrigation (soil moisture sensors, stormwater reuse, etc.), and nutrient source controls (Florida-friendly landscapes, operations and maintenance, etc.).
